The best media player for Linux
Hey Linux users out there! New to Linux ?? Quite possible that you are new :D and are looking out for a good media player for yourself... Right ?? Most newbies to Linux think VLC is the best media player for Linux or Windows. No matter it can play all formats but its interface is just OK-OK type. If you want a good interface along with most formats supported then use Mplayer. Mplayer is only the command line.. There are two GUI frontends known as gmplayer and smplayer of which smplayer rocks. smplayer works nicely with being able to play most audio-video formats.
Official Website: www.mplayerhq.hu
To install it in Fedora or Red Hat use -
# yum install smplayer
Note: you must run the above command as root and you must have the livna and atrpms repositories enabled on yum... if not check out livna.org and atrpms.net
Here's a nice screenshot of smplayer -

U cant just directly state that this is the best multimedia player for linux, It's been said that vlc supports almost ALL codecs in the market today. i still say vlc is better, its built in a very simple way.... n has great compatibility as well. So y bother about trendy GUI's???
